Have the cursor start at the Search dialog box
When you opened the old software, it started with the cursor in the search box. That allowed us to type what we looking for immediately. Now we have to move the cursor to the search box. Sounds simple enough, but it just takes that much longer to get to what we need.

Please update your SplashID Windows app to the latest release 8.0.6.863 to use this feature. Cursor will focus on the Search box at startup.
SplashID Windows 8.0.6.863 can be downloaded from on https://www.splashid.com/downloads or use the 'Check for update' option in the application main menu to initiate the update.

The first thing I do when I open the application is search. Additionally, I find it annoying that after I find what I am looking for and then backspace in the search field, it goes back to searching by the one letter I type rather than the full word. Example: If I searched for Amazon, then I back space all the letters out and type bank, it does not fill bank in, it searches the database for b, a, n, k. showing me all records starting with k.

When the desktop application (v8.0.2.838) starts on Mac OS 10.10.3, the search field has the focus, but the cursor isn't visible, much less blinking. You can start typing into the search field, but the UI has failed to let you know that you can. Make the cursor blink in this field with the focus, just like it does on every application ever.

I too use the search as my first action in SplashID. I would like to see this as an option for starting up the app.

It's very annoying when the app comes up and the focus leaves the search box. I have corrupted the first item in my database several times; to get around the issues, I created a fake first item so should it happen I am not out anything!
