Allow user selection of the fields to be shown at top of screen

It would make the internal browser feature useful if the user could select the fields that appear at the top of the internal browser; or prehaps a better option to have those be the first 2 fields in the record.
I find that the browser often selects the wrong fields, making the browser feature useless, as I can't find any way to see that information once the browser is opened.
